Just found out my archery elk hunt fell through, guide apparently double booked. Super bummed. Looking for any recommendations on availability for this year. Really scrambling here. Preferably archery. Thanks!

I see people trying to sell Land owner tags on NM FB groups but not sure how legit that is. Have you tried calling other NM reputable outfitters?

Be very carful buying Land Owner tags, a lot of scammers. I would look for last minute cancelations, could pickup a sweet last minute cancelation. Always OTC Colorado rifle if your just trying to go.

that's a good idea, i wonder how common cancelations are. I assume I would have to call around and get put on a list?

Try steveshunts.com Steve West of Steve's Outdoor Adventures took over the Quinlan Ranch in Chama, NM after it sold, and he ran a decent operation there. Might be worth a phone call. I've seen him several times on the Outdoor Channel hunting across the U.S. and he claims he will personally take your call.

Could always try to find a hunt in Canada. Depends if you are trophy hunting or just want to go kill a bull.

Didn't know you can buy these from Utah, good to keep as a backup plan.

What’s the name of the outfitter? Please post the name, so nobody else has to go through the same, unfortunate experience. These outfitters need the rest of the hunting world to know who they are when they don’t do the right thing and screw hunters over.

As said above, your outfitter went with more money or perhaps catered to a long time client.

I'd start calling "known reputable" outfitters to see if they have any openings. It's going to be tough but there's one with your name on it, just have to turn over the right rock.

BTW, season is underway, so unless they have someone answering the phones they may not answer right away.

Here's three whom I have some experience with and are straight shooters. All have private land tags or can get them.
