Group buy for custom chamber “factory” rifles

100% every Savage I have messed with shoots, but is sloppy. Most other rifles do too, but I have seen a couple dogs.

But, every after market prefit has shot as good or better, as in sub moa.

I would even test shoot a group for the cost of ammo and 20 minutes of time to proof out a rifle if someone wanted to see the guarantee rather than take the risk.

Oh no doubt savages shoot, I just didn’t want to buy it because it was a $2000 gun in a heavy chassis which didn’t suit my use case. My buddy exclusively shoots savages for long range comps. If it would have been an ultralight or timberline 110 I would have bought it in a heartbeat. Looking back I could have went with the fast twist tikka 243, but I can’t argue with the 6.5 PRC accuracy despite it being a Christensen

I figure it’s a simple way for those who don’t want to mess with going all Lego on their gun.

For less than or the same cost as buying the parts themselves, we could assemble the rifle. Barrel companies already offer the rebarreling service, so that isn’t new.

I will ultimately have the barrels for the niche cartridges.

So if I order one of these barrels in the preorder I can send you my barreled action and you'll rebarrel and able to get it off with marring the old barrel too bad?

If you are going to do Howa's, I'm in. From what I see, they would all be Savage/Remage type prefits. You will need to headspace them with a barrel nut so make sure you have good headspace gauges too. Remington, Howa, Savage, and Ruger all use the variable prefits with barrel nuts. After adding a barrel nut, some stock clearance may be needed. Just some things to think about.

I should be able to get it off, but sometimes a little marring is inevitable.

I may have to coordinate with a smith friend to help when it takes a relief cut. That’s a wildcard I hear is necessary for some Tikka…

I ran Savage for years, and now use Howa with barrel nut. I have a 1500 short action, mini and just bought a Superlite for testing with a 22 creed.

Howa is definitely on the list. I am most interested in the Superlite. I am also working on bottom metal and mags for Howa mini and Superlite.

Yes, a barrel nut requires some opening of the barrel channel. We will have a mill for that. No other “gunsmithing” though.

I you could sell a factory stainless lite but with a pbb in non standard but desired cartridges for $1400 I’d think you’d be on to something. Maybe $1500 still too.

That said.. nobody wants my TS Customs chambered krieger 7 SAUM tikka for about that much, but it’s not brand new and a little on the heavy side.

Once it’s “used” the price drops… surprises me too, that’s a sweet rifle.

I would definitely be in on a Superlite and maybe a Mini. 18 to 20 inch 22CM, 25CM, or 6CM with fast twist. 16 to 18 inch 224 Weatherby Mag (0.430 boltface so it should work with an ARC/Grendel bolt), 6x45, or a 25 Sharps on a Mini maybe.
