Ground blind recommendations

Looking to get a ground blind for turkey hunting this season. I would like to take some younger hunters out have a harder time staying will and I think a blind would be a good option conceal some of their wiggling around. Any recommendations on something that is fairly packable and durable? Thanks in advance.

I recently bought a barronett. All the previous post I read on this blog said double bull was the best but I didn’t have mucho bucks to pay. I have a friend that has a double bull blind from 10 years ago and I didn’t know. It until last night. He showed it to me and I wish I would have had the money to buy one. I will use mine next week on my son’s first turkey hunt and I’ll Send an update on how it goes. I hope it turns out well

Just picked up the Cabela's XL and its awesome. Think it was about 180.00. I'm a big guy and two of me could hang out in this thing no problem. All the windows are very functional and easy to use. Can't go wrong with one of these.

I use a Primos The Club XL with my son turkey hunting. It's light and easy to pack around..easy to set up..decent camo pattern options..and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, you can usually find them for around $100 to $125 on eBay or other places online.

Whatever you buy... stay away from Ameristep. I've been through 3 in 2 seasons now.

Best overall blind is double bull double wide. Haven’t tried the new see through ones but I have three of the double wides. Expensive yes but I think by far the best available

I've got an Ameristep that is 3 years old. It's showing it's age but that's cause I left in in the woods for about 5 months straight this winter. Back in late November we had a wet, heavy snow that actually partially collapsed it and when we got to it we just popped it back up. I have zero complaints about spending the $90 I did on it. The only complaint I do have is the window configuration. The way they are shaped has made it difficult for my daughter to get her gun on animals. This has been whitetail hunting in northcentral PA. I've killed a few deer from it and my son connected his first year out.

If you want to spend as little as possible I think you need to consider you anticipated use. My blind is basically set up and then left out for a few weeks to few months. If you are moving it around a fair amount or setting it up and tearing it down then an Ameristep may not last as long. I don't know. I anticipate getting 1 more (2 if I'm lucky) year out of my current one and then I'll probably purchase another inexpensive blind.

Primos double bull hands down. Heavy and expensive but will last twice as long as the rest. The material is quieter than most in the wind also.

Barronett would get my vote. I’ve got a barronett bell bottom, paid about 130 bucks for it on amazon four years ago. Still going strong.

I sat in a new double blind see through the other day. It was the 360 degree version. It was really cool but it let wayyyy too much light in even with the black panel hanging behind you. The 180 might do a better job of not letting it get too bright in the blind.

Just for turkeys though, a barronett is hard to beat for the money. If you’re going to tote kids with you, do yourself a favor and spend the 40ish bucks for a blind hog bag. It carries my blind, two chairs and four dsd/avian dekes better than any other system I’ve come across.

If you're bringing any kids with you remember to pack 4X more food than you think is needed and you'll still run out by 9 am!!! I'm going to use a gen 1 nomad on a hunter duplex frame to carry everything. Good luck!

Also check out ghost blinds, pretty neat concept. I've used it for a couple seasons now with good results
