When do you start seeing grizzlies at higher elevations in the spring? Reason I ask is that I have a griz draw for the piece of BC that is upstream from Haines, so between AK and the Yukon border, and I'm trying to get an idea on timing. My draw is good for April 15 thru June 15. I realize every year is going to be different but there are usually some generalities... (I hope :) )

thanks,
RC

well, i'm sure you know the coastal brownies are not grizzlies. They vary by region and spring behavior and timing is also different.

For the SE brown bears, mid to late april and early may. ive seen bears out earlier depending on regional spring climate.

It's pretty warm this spring, so I would not be surprised if they came out early. However the first week of May should be a good time to start.
