If you believe it's rational for a person to fly across the country to attend a candle light vigil for a road killed wild animal, I would simply disagree.

I believe it is completely irrational and borderline insane.

When people care deeply about something, they often do things that, to those that don't care, appear "irrational and borderline insane".

They may light themselves on fire, refuse to carry a gun in a warzone, stop eating until they die, take on a vow of silence, strap explosives to their body, storm a capitol building, refuse to eat animal products, post snarky comments in online threads, ship themselves oversees to fight wars, spend thousands of dollars to go to concerts, lose their life to save a stranger, willingly march themselves to their own death, knowingly drink poisoned kool-aid, assassinate politicians/civil rights leaders/religious figures, and yes, attend a vigil for a bear.

And, that makes them borderline insane.

People need to quit equating "I care" with "I'm a good person".

People who care about the wrong things have done an awful lot of evil in the world - either directly, or unintentionally by thinking they're helping.

Ah yes "wrong" and "evil": words that have one, universal, unquestionable, objective and true meaning that never comes from yourself, only from others.

Sorry bud, you're going to have to take this undergraduate college sociology navel-gazing to a different place. Moral relativism is a disease that leads to nihilism and paralysis - which is a core pillar of Marxism.

Miss me with the brain rot.

These people are borderline insane, and their mentality leads to hunting bans.

How do you know when you live in the best country in the world? When one of the worst things that can happen is a bear dies and people get all teary eyed.

I guess I shouldn’t complain.

Can we acknowledge that people loving an individual bear contributes to policies that prevent science based management of a population of bears?
Yep, and one person (Judge, Dana Christensen) can decide that a entire species belongs on the ESA and therefor not be properly managed. Despite science backed by grizzly bear biologists and state game agencies that shows the Grizz population in the GYE has met the 6 initially set population goals since the early 2000s and more likely the mid 90s. Alast Grizzlies fall into that category of charismatic megafauna that make people get all weird about science backed management. This is the issue with ballot box biology, and it only gets worst when the ability to manage a species comes down to a singular uninformed judge who may be swayed because he saw an article on candle light vigil for a 28 year old grizzly.

I saw a group on FB advertising 399 hats with a bear printed on it. I got lots of negative comments when I suggested the bear was upside down, it’s feet should be pointing towards the sky!
