Which grim reaper mechanibroadheads are you using? I hear the whitetail specials are veryyyy good.

but I just went to buy a set and there are a few different types of whitetail specials

-pro series
-Razor tip
-razor cut
-SS

which one of these is the one everyone raves about

Definitely want the Pro-tip. You better have some serious arrow weight to run the Whitetail series.

Whitetail special 520grn. WICKED! try the mini mag as well 4 blade 2.5" Overall cut

Watch em drop

I switched to the 3-blade razor cut last year. I think my total arrow was around 525-540. Both of my whitetail bucks didn’t make it 20. I had full pass throughs and my blades were in much better shape than previous outcomes with various rage broadheads.

I did have one that didn’t open very well from the packaging so make sure you test them and maybe even oil them lightly. I called GR and they sent me out a replacement that day.

I shot a few whitetail does with Razorcuts last year and they were totally devastating

I have been using Grim Reapers (Razor Tip and Pro Series 3 blade 1 3/8") since 2015 and have had zero issues.

The Razor Tip head has more of a trocar design and may be better if you hit bone. The Pro Series has more of a COC design and may help with quartering shots in limiting deflection.

I hunt elk (CO), deer (CO and TX), and pigs (TX), and I want to make sure I get the best penetration knowing that I give a little energy away when the head opens. The Razor Tip and Pro Series fly very consistent for me and are devastating when they hit the mark.

FWIW - I shoot a PSE CS 35 EC, 32" draw length, 65-67#, ~292 FPS, 481 grain Pierce Platinum arrows, so I am generating plenty of KE/Mo, but I have not ever felt like I needed a bigger cut head.

I wanted to love the QAD Exodus but never had them group right past 20 yards. I switched to GR whitetail specials on a 530 gr Easton match grade arrow build & have been happy with them.

If I was shooting over 40-50 yards regularly I may down size to one of their smaller models but up close they make a nice hole in whitetails.
