Grey Fox got my chickens

2 grey foxes killed 5 of my hens the other day.
I got a depredation permit approved and I'm ready for my revenge. I've got video of the foxes coming back to the coop/barnyard every night and also in the daylight.

I have an old Foxpro and a wounded critter decoy but I've never directly targeted greys

Any suggestions for calling sequences for grey foxes? I can't find any chicken noises in the Foxpro library. Do I just use the normal wounded rabbit, 5 min on, 5 min off?

I would rotate through a new sound every 2-3 minutes Rodents, rabbits, birds and not put much thought into it. If they are close by they will show up for a free meal, problem is they might not be close enough and it might take a few attempts.

Don’t be surprised for other predators to show up first though!

Unless they have been pressured a gray is about the easiest thing out there to call in. If you get the first one stay ready. If it’s a mated pair the other one will come in. I’m in NC too and around here we don’t have many foxes left so I’m willing to put up with some shenanigans but 5 hens is a lot.

Those are the easiest to call in. I think any distress would work…just don’t start too loud.

Try a Grey fox pup distress right now
They have pups now. Around my house a chicken killer will get shot fast. My wife is very protective of her chickens.

We will be rattling off hunting stories in camp around the campfire at night about killing gray fox and they'll walk right in.

If I was you, I'd have the 12 gauge ready and get both at the same time if possible.

Might not even need to call. Just leave some cat food out.

What’s the plan for nighttime? Red light or thermal?
