Howdy folks !
Toby here from sunny Santa Cruz California - I live with my girlfriend and her 6 yr old girl
We shoot bows and guns (yes we are still allowed to own them here for now) mainly chasing quail in the Ventana Wilderness/Big Sur area. Other than that the hunting is pretty marginal unless I drive for hours upon hours and then face weekend traffic on the way home. Don't move here
I've hunted the wilderness in California a few times and love it - then went to a private ranch hunting elk for the last 2 yrs
I caught the bug but hate group hunts --- Someone get me into the mountains
I love to go backpacking and have made some serious improvements to my gear over the last 2 years, need to put it all together and haul out some meat.
Last year was great although no backpack hunting - took the family to SD for the pheasant opener, Wyoming for my girlfriends first doe deer, and then off to Colorado for the elk hunt.
