great clothing for hunting that is not coming from a hunting brand.

My favorite pants anymore are Fjallraven Vidda pros or Kebs. You can wax them for late season hunts to shield from water and snow, or wash the wax off for earlier season hunting. Double knees, and seat on the Viddas. Adjustable ankles with boot hooks. They are the perfect pants for me.

Hot weather super light shirts:
I couldn't find a hunting brand with one light enough, as I run very hot when exercising, even in cold weather, so my favorites are the following (in order):

Outdoor Research - Echo Tee (long sleeve)
Marmot - Windridge (LS)
Arcteryx - Motus crew (LS)

I do a lot of running and run into the same problem!!
I am seeing that the Black Diamond merino tshirt is making quiet the splash. This is the one.

I wear Mtn Hardware Piero pants for work and hunting. Own six pair, all have lasted 6-7 years. I consider them almost indestructible.

They are quite good, flexible as hell. I’ve got a pair of the fleece yumalina ones as well. I bought them a size bigger and sewed on loops so I can use suspenders and wear them as a bibs. Don’t want to do much walking in them, you’ll sweat your ass off.

for those of you using this stuff as outerwear, do you have any issue with uv brighteners in the fabric or do you just wash it out multiple loads before using?
Use a black light to test yours. None of my neutral colored gear shines really under uv light except for a foliage colored Patagonia houdini; the ripstop threads glow. No way to know until you test it.
The Atsko uv killerspray works OK for the houdini and my blaze orange gear. The big thing is to avoid using detergent with uv brighteners on hunting gear.

Hmm, might try it, but so far the lightest merino from first light is still notably too hot for me. Maybe just need a bigger, looser fit so has some air circulation, or like that shirt with less merino in a blend.

Just tried a 1/4 zip Outdoor Research Echo tee at an IDPA match in Sacramento in mid to upper 80's and was pretty darn good. During my short training hike tonight I succumbed to the short sleeve comfort allure and was rewarded with a tic trying to make a home in my arm. Seems I'm destined for long sleeves.
