I'll start off by saying I am not a bear hunter by any means. However, last year during my first archery elk hunt (Montana), we stumbled upon a large brown bear the first day that we could have easily taken with a bow. This year, we are headed to the Grand Mesa area in Colorado for an elk hunt the 3rd week of September. Given that its only $100, I was thinking about adding a bear tag on. However, GoHunt doesn't give me much of idea of if there are many bears around the mesa or not. The harvest numbers look very low for fall archery but I dont know how accurate they are or how many people hunt.
So the question is, are there enough bears around the Mesa to have much of a chance of encountering one during an Elk hunt? Worth 100 bucks to add on?
