Grand Junction Weather? Lion........

He said no snow but hopeful for snow this week. Yes I researched him quit a bit. It never occurred to me December might not have had snow or I would have booked later. I never looked up the weather in Grand Junction until now.

I thought it was very low odds, the strategy was to drive roads at night until you cut fresh tracks - determine if it was a mature male then release hounds. Without snow finding a track - and identifying a mature male, was significantly more difficult.

Yes it is unusual to not have snow especially up in his area. And yes it will be difficult however I know Fred has dealt with similar conditions before. Also grand junction weather can be significantly different then where Fred is typically hunting believe it or not. The evelvation change from Grand Junction to the top of the mountain is over 5000ft in less than 10 miles. For example Grand Junction only gets about 18" of snowfall annually on average. Where he is gets about 85" to 100" on average over the winter. And at the very top has an average of 420" per winter.

Ive also seen great winters where you can go a few weeks without even cutting a track.

Just giving you this info for context and future trips.
