Grail Guns

The 223 Master Sporter @AirborneEScouter has listed in the classifieds is getting pretty close to grail status for me. 🤣🤣
Yeah… about that.

So is it disgraceful to immediately swap the barrel so it can shoot 77/88 TMKs out of it and possibly take to Montana this fall? Asking for the guy who just couldn’t help himself

So you’re the one.
Haha, congrats.
No dishonor in my book with the barrel swap.

I discussed this earlier in the month. I don’t even think these things really exist. But I thought they are pretty cool

So you can see why the master sporter was on my radar.

I’d say the next “grail” is a wood rokstok lite with a raven action and 16” barrel. Probably more attainable.

Right up my alley. Sold my parkers years ago, but that was only a vh and a trojan. But always coveted an early damascus (gh I think, been a while). Some of them the engraved birds look like flying turnips but some are delicious. And I LOVE those damascus barrels. Also had a thing for a graded lefever, but that was even more out of my league.
And I also really appreciate the sharps. Reminds me of a wallhanger at a friends place growing up. Someday probably will try one out.
Two thumbs up on the choices. (y)

Nah, it wants to be used. I will say the .22-250 barrel my last one came w is damn impressive.

Yeah I’d need to get a new bolt to go up to a standard barrel (22 or 6cm). I’m looking forward to shooting it in 223 though. I just can’t see the 1:12 factory twist being very useful practically for how I’d want to shoot it.

That has nice lines. Check out the Sauer 200 STR

Load up some 50 gr ballistic tips and wear out some praire dogs. Might be easier to get the bolt opened up vs finding a replacement.

I’ve always been a 270 win fan. I had 2 guns I always wanted. A pre-64 Model 70 and a NULA. I had friends who had one of each. I probably overpaid, but they are both in my safe now. My friend with the M-70 has passed and the one I got the NULA from is 86. I think of both of them when I have those rifles in the woods or at the range.

“Only”2 . One setup as .308, other was 22CM - now 1:8 22-250.

Planning to have a restomod version eventually, if that works out I’ll prob sell one.

Is there a reason the T3X orange laminate sporter isn’t more popular? Is it just the import availability? Or has there been major changes compared to the m595 master sporter?
I have to imagine at least a few have come through the S2H course.

Two grail guns I’ve always wanted:

1: A five shot 45 colt Linebaugh conversion. They’re gorgeous. They’re practical. Heirloom-level status, though WHEN I get one I may decide it gets buried with me.

2: for some reason I’ve always had the biggest desire for a bespoke, engraved double rifle built in a humble and classically American cartridge. 30-30 win or similar. Cheap to shoot, does what you need it to do, and completely at odds with the platform in the best way. I could be the coolest guy at the deer drive

I think it's got this working against it:
- non-American threads
- heavy barrel
- price
- blue action
- cut toe
- its orange
- pretty sure it's essentially unavailable unless you know Eurooptic has them

The way most of us shoot it needs a new barrel immediately and nitride treatment, so you're basically paying 2 grand just to get a master sporter stock that is plywood with a cut toe and no pillars.

The good stuff:
- you get the master sporter experience but its brand new and uses the mags you probably have tons of
- the laminated stock is only 2 ounces heavier than a Master Sporter stock
- the cutaway toe isn't as awful as it seems pre-purchase
- I've shot the smallest groups of my life with a barreled action that came out of a Rokstok and dropped into the "new sporter" stock
