I used the Gaia app on my iPhone this year on two hunts with great success! I have a pretty old eTrex Vista that I also brought along and I wanted to chuck that thing off the mountain more than once! Reception in the timber is poor to non existent. I like the idea of the eTrex 20 for a compact unit as long as it gets good reception. I may pick up one of those myself. I like having another unit in addition to my phone and it probably won't get used much.

In the market for a GPS. I've used gala for my phone, but I'd rather have the real thing. Debating between the etrex 20, etrex 30, and 62s. Not sure if the 30 or 62s are worth the extra $$.

This is my first year with a gps, and thank goodness too, because it really got me out of a jam. I have the etrex20 and want for nothing. Of course, I'm sure if I spent time with a more pricey one I would be smitten.

I've used a few different Garmin GPS models (currently the 62S) and was hoping to use the GPS on my iPhone while out scouting this season. However, as soon as I lost cell signal, I was extremely underwhelmed with the speed and accuracy of the iPhone. Sometimes as long as 5+ minutes to obtain a satellite lock.

Has anyone used the Garmin GLO? It is a GPS antenna that connects to your iPhone/Android via bluetooth. In theory it should allow your cell phone to be as effective as the regular GPS, with the added benefits of the cell phone screen, integrated camera, typing notes, etc. Plus, since I already carry my iphone as my camera, it would cut down gear/batteries as well.
