Ever since I was kid and saw Gone in 60 Seconds, and the first Fast and Furious movies, I always had an appreciation for American Muscle cars. Never got crazy into cars, but just held an appreciation for them.

This year, I decided it was time to own one. Set my sights on a 67 to 70 fastback mustang. After a few months of searching, and then 6 weeks of shipping logistics, she was dropped off yesterday:

1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1, numbers matching drive train, mostly original parts. 26XXX original miles.

Specs:
H code 351W engine. Upgraded 4 barrel carb. Edelbrock performance 400HP top end kit aluminum heads, intake and carb.
Headers, with Magnaflow 2.5in dual exhaust
3spd FMX Transmission
9in rear axles
American racing 14in Torque thrust wheels

She needs a tune up and some clean up, but sounds amazing even just rolling off the truck.

Now to figure out how much hunting gear can fit in the trunk ;-).

Sweet ride. I used to transport dead animals in my car all the time. Boltons and big cam. Should have never sold it.

Cool
When my dad came to the U.S from Yugoslavia, he saved up his money and bought a 65 Mustang. Said when he was in the Yugslov Army he bought American hot rod magazines and made it his goal to buy a Mustang.
That was his big regret was selling it a few years later.

I saw the title

Got into a new honny recently

and thought guy thoughts, and then thought naw, HOBBY ... He must have meant hobby.... The N and the B are right next together on the keyboard .... And then I thought whiskey ... WHISKEY ... That's his new hobby....

Then I opened the thread, saw what it really was, and 'liked' it ...

Mustangs are a classic example of American car Hell Yeah, and HARD NOPE in the same line over time.

Lol, yeah I hit the "N" instead of "B" and didn't notice until after full send. Tried to edit as quickly as possible, lol.

I already have a decent whisky/bourbon collection so that would not be new 😝. So, car it is!

Awesome car! I've had several mustangs. My current one I bought new in 2006 and over the years it has turned into an almost dedicated race car. It's currently getting It's 3rd motor. Should run a high 9 after chassis/engine gets tuned. Hasn't been ran since 2017....

Very nice! Yeah, this one has alot of original parts, but also many mods and slight DIY tweaks. Planning on driving it as is for a while, but definitely looking at options like stroking the motor, upgrading suspension, changing to a 5-speed manual, etc....

I had a 05 cobra until I bought my first diesel. I lost all interest in muscle cars when an 8k lb truck would walk away from it. My current Cummins dynoed alitle over 600 hp, runs low 12s and still gets 20 mpg. The power is addicting to say the least! Enjoy they new toy.

You got a g56 or an auto?

I have an 11 g56 with efi and love the damn thing. Not 500 hp lol but it's so dang reliable. I can switch to about 450 but I'm not studded.

I've got a 1979 Trans Am that my dad and I built together. Got it as a roller my senior year of high school, pulled an old 455 block out of my grandma's barn to rebuild and stick in there. It's just a mild build for now, but I have very ambitious plans for the future to turn it into an autocross car. The problem is that hunting also takes a lot of time and money lol, so I've been happy to drive it as is for now.

Fun fact: We were able to get the glovebox door signed by Burt Reynolds before he passed.

I’ve had both. Ordered my 07 5.9 g56 truck brand new when I was in Iraq in 07. Sold it a few years ago for stupid money during covid. Missed it, picked up a 1 owner 06 this past spring. Put a built 48re in it and I will never own another stick after having a built auto.

48re are great in stock form with minor upgrades for stock power. Once properly built they will handle more power then any stick could imagine, shift much faster and just take pure abuse. I love a built 48re. This truck has 110k on it, plan on keeping it forever. Sold my red one with 125k on it. No issues.

Studded, tuned, dd sourh bend, basic build but was fun, mid 400 hp truck. The new one I studded, did 100 hp injectors, calibrated power stealth turbo and some efi live. Billet input, intermediate and all the billet goodies internally. Leveled on 33s. I’m keeping it as stock looking as possible for a sleeper build.

My 11 is that white gold. Ccsb. Bighorn slt package at the time. People have offered ridiculous amounts for it with 90k miles. Installing my southbend this weekend.

You have some sharp rigs

I got 40k cash for the red truck 2 years ago. I paid 33k for it brand new. Paid 23k for the gold truck with 102 on it this past spring. Like I said before, plan on keeping this one forever! You can eat off the frame and interior. Exterior is insane after some paint correction. Truck runs, drives and looks like a brand new truck. I got super lucky finding it.IMG_5008.jpeg

Same here. I have an 05 cummins and loving nothing more then pulling on cocky kids in camaros and mustangs. I'm not putting as much power to the wheels as you are but I'm hovering right around 500.
