Does anyone have experience with the gopro session. Wanting to use one on a alaska moose hunt. Think it would be cool for flying in among other things. I live the size but you cannot replace batteries you can only charge tge unit itself. I could carry an external battery pack. Just curious if anyone is using one.

dotman has one I believe. Not sure how much he has used it though. Your concerns mirror mine. Plus, don't you have to have it paired with a phone or remote to change settings? For some reason It doesn't even have an LCD to tell you what the current settings are, correct? So, any time you wanted to change a setting you would also be draining the battery of a remote or phone.

I have a Hero 3 Silver and a Hero 4 Black. I don't really find a need to have a smaller form factor as even in their waterproof cases, they are still pretty small.

All that said, I think you can get them for a steal now on certain deals so you could probably get two for what a Hero costs. Just depends on how you will use it and how much fiddling you want to mess with to change settings and all that.

Yeah i think you have to pair it to change settings. Ive never had a gopro but dont think ill be changing setting much after initial setup. I like the size and weight. Always wanted to put one on bow stabilizer but thought they might be little big.

Nah, not too much. I know it also has the internal battery and you cannot remove it from the case. I think overall, it's alright but fairly mediocre as far as features and performance. When is your hunt? You probably have quite a bit if time to wait for some good deals. GoPro will probably have new models out at some point and the Hero 4 line will sell cheap.

Love my session, much better battery life than any of my other cameras, one button on off control, so you hit a button; record what you want, hit the same button and it's off. It conserves battery really well. I also have a battery pack that will recharge it 6 times and I get around 2 hours of recording out of a charge. Way smaller and lighter as well. You can pocket carry it versus having to have it mounted all the time
