Google Earth Lidar Layer DEM levels

I think I understand all the necessary steps and pulled in a few Lidar layers into Google Earth, but the problem I'm having is resolution. The 1 meter DEM is not available everywhere but the 1/3 second arc DEM is. It seems that the 1/3 second is not really useable for trails/old roads/etc, and that 1 meter is really the only Lidar we are interested in. Is that correct or could I be missing a setting/export option?

Are you getting your data from USGS?

It's been a while since I had my GIS course and used DEM layers, but from what I remember, 1/3 models had a lot more availability in most areas than ones of higher resolution.

Yes from the USGS. I get them from here:
https://apps.nationalmap.gov/downloader/

I've done it a few times now and I'm pretty sure 1 meter is the only way to go. It's just unfortunately not as prevalent in my state (OR).

Perhaps someone else has another source or a trick that we don't know.

You may just have to live with the 1/3 arc, barring getting your own drone with a LiDAR package ($$$).

Yea that's what I was wondering. Got to say, the 1 meter is pretty awesome. I've heard mention of it by Mark Livesey but I haven't seen a good tutorial by one of the e-scouting experts on it. I'd really like to see how they are using it.
