temp rating or down vs synthetic preference??

I'd watch ebay for a marmot helium or mountain hardwear phantom. I picked up a new helium membrain for 250 awhile back. I might consider a mountain hardwear lamina also, but I don't know a ton about them.

Does anyone have an opinion of the Badlands -10 Degree Cinder synthetic sleeping bag? Just purchased one really cheap. Haven't had a chance to try it out.

I've used the Sawtooth the last 2 years in Colorado and I've been happy with it.

I'm assuming September use since you are backpacking and this is the elk section.
I have a Kelty cosmic down 20. I think it was $120. Works well below freezing for me, not a high end bag but is only 2# and packs small.

Ok thanks guys. One question, how small does the marmot sawtooth pack down?

That Kelty cosmic down bag is a hell of a bag for the money. My brother bought one from Academy for $80 a few years ago and it's nearly as good as my Marmot Helium.

I put mine in a sea to summit compression sack and you can get it pretty small. I'm not sure if I'm compressing it to much but it's only in sack when I'm hiking in.

Hijack alert:
A good investment for any sleeping bag is a Kifaru 5 string stuff sack.
It makes compressing and packing a bag much more efficient due to the shape.

I forgot to get one with my last order. I'm going to get one when I order some more stuff.

I use the cats meow 20 degree. It's abundant and I got it for under $100. Little tight in the shoulders though. Under 3lbs synthetic.
