So I am trying to find a hunting scope that is sub 22oz with exposed turrets and good out to 400-500 yards. I purchased and am going to return a Trijicon credo hx because the reticle is too fine for me. I am right handed and cross eyed dominant so the reticle is a no go unfortunately. I was looking at the leupold box-5hd but read on some issues. Same with the zeiss conquest v4.

Before people comment and tell me to get a heavier Trijicon or a night force, I have already explored those options and I’m not willing to go the extra weight especially on a rifle that is already 7ish pounds and going to be used for backcountry hunts. Not trying to be rude just want some other options besides just going heavier. I know some people say it’s worth it but I’m already not a large guy so weight savings is very important.

Appreciate it!

Edit:
I should probably also add that I’d like to have a ballistic drop reticle as well just in case quick shots are required and second focal plane for close shots since I’ll be hunting in various areas

uh...yeah. Schmidt and Bender is one of the top tier brands by any standard. Reliability, clarity, both exceptional. My preference is the P3L version in Mildot reticle with a dialing elevation turret.
How is the reticle visibility at 3x with the first focal plane?

I’ve seen a lot of people not recommend the conquest. Any idea why?

Just to be clear, the scope I reference above is a Victory Diavari. It’s not in production anymore but superior to any of the old conquest scopes and to my eyes on par to slightly better than the newer production conquests.

I do have a couple of Zeiss Conquests (one V6 and another V4) that I really like.

The older 1-inch conquests were a significantly lower price point offering

How well does your v4 hold zero and track with the turrets?

Yeah that’s my bad I noticed it wasn’t a conquest when I took a look after the fact lol

My V4s track perfectly. I have three V4s and all track perfectly. I hunt and target shoot out to 900 yards with them regularly. I talked with Greg Ray of Outdoor Solutions Shooting School at the DSC Show in Atlanta specifically about the V4. He uses MANY V4s in his school. They are used way more than any of us will normally. They get dropped, dialed and regularly abused. He mentioned one that had a parallax failure after using it for a couple of years. Zeiss fixed it of course. They have had no other issues, ever.

My go-to for what you describe is the SWFA fixed 6x mil-quad. It has a better reticle than anything you list, weighs about 19 oz, dials reliably, hold zero well, has more than reasonable glass, and costs about $300. The are showing as discontinued on SWFA’s website at the moment, but the company is expecting to release a Gen II version shortly. I like the simplicity of a fixed power scope and the fact that it is never on the wrong power. I’ve used this scope from 30 yards to 600 yards. It’s a scope that I can count on and has killed all my big game animals for the last 4 years.

I’ve never heard of this brand. Is the glass good?

OP, there are some times when you get into something, and you've heard about the common stuff for awhile...a little bit about this brand or that brand, different models, etc, and things are familiar. Your buddies are into that level of thing, and they have examples of them.

And then you hear about the higher end stuff, and maybe dig into it a bit. And even if you haven't seen an example personally, you've come across the name and have a vague idea about its reputation. The kind of thing where your buddies would recognize it's at the high-end level, with very high cool-factor.

A level above all that is the stuff you've never heard of.

My V4 has been flawless. I shoot it out to 900

Recently stumbled across this while searching the web one night. Aside from being second focal, seems like it could tick a lot of your boxes. No idea how durable these are but from what I've read around here, GPO has a good amount of positive feedback.

FWIW I have a Zeiss V6 that has been flawless as well. Over 500 rounds of 300 win mag. and no loss of zero or RTZ issues. Glass is exceptional as well imo.
