I am looking to get a good, lightweight yet durable pants belt for backpacking and backcountry hunting. I am considering the Bison Designs Guide belt from REI. Any experience with this one, or any other suggestions?

As I research this more, it looks like Kuiu and Sitka both buy their belts from Bison Designs.[/QUOTE

You are right they also make belts for Kryptek, Core 4 and Cabelas just to name a few. I have been wearing the Cabelas Last Chance heavy duty belt for years and this year I picked up the Kryptek version. These belts are tough and the heavy duty version has Velcro on the end so it does not loosen throughout the day.

I have a Bison belt. I used to think if it wasn't a stiff Wilderness tactical type belt then it wouldn't be worth my time, however it is both functional and really shines beneath a pack belt.

I'm in the market for the same thing. By looking at the various models, I plan on making my own. I'd think I can do it for less than $10.

I have the Cabelas version mentioned above, great belt, always stays tight.

After 2 years with the C4E it officially sucks. Doesn't stay tight anymore. Going with something else

I'll have to vote for the Volund Gearworks ATLAS belt. I use it for an EDC/CCW belt and since it has a G-Hook as a "buckle", it's low profile will lend well to a belt for underneath a pack belt. I've tried it with about 40lbs in a pack and thought it was very comfortable. The belt is just stiff enough, but not so stiff that it feels like you're wearing shaped steel around your waist like some of the other "gun belts". It's the best belt I've owned and like my gear to be multi-use. This fits that bill.
