Glock 19 conundrum

I was given a Gen 5 stripped slide cut for a Holosun red dot. I have a Gen 4. I have swapped a complete gen5 slide onto my frame with no issues. I tried to swap my Gen 4 slide parts into the Gen 5 slide but couldn't get functionality.

What's the difference between Gen 4 & 5 internal slide parts that would cause this.

Gen 5 is slightly wider isn’t it? I’m not sure about the 9mm ones but the gen 5 10mm pistols won’t fit in gen 4 holsters.

The slide is just barely wider, but I've fired a complete Gen 5 slide on the 4 frame without a hiccup.
I'm wondering if the striker is different. To the casual eye there's no difference. The safety plunger is different.

Is there a way to look on Glock’s website at the parts/part numbers and see if any of the Gen 5 parts are different?

I haven't been able to find out for sure. Stores have different sku#s, the safety plunger is definitely different.

I'll have my son bring his Gen 5 back over and take some measurements of the firing pin. Then swap his safety plunger into the 5 slide and use the rest of my 4 parts and see if it works.

Mostly curious for my own knowledge at this point. Probably will just order all Gen 5 parts, and assemble as a Gen 5 as it will then function on either frame, and my Gen 4 can be left assembled as a spare.

Was curious so I looked into it. Does not look like gen 4 and gen 5 19 internals are compatible according to this source.

After reading through it, it looks like I'll be buying Gen 5 parts for the slide.

Just an update if someone else runs into this...
I bought Gen 5 parts for the Gen 5 slide, put it on top of the Gen 4 frame and it runs perfectly.
