Totally agree. Anytime I can use my pack as support, prone or sitting, is the best. If the brush or sagebrush is too tall, a tripod with give you a chance if you practice .

100% it’s a great tool to keep as an option. I’m just not going to optimize my kit for that, when it’s such a large disadvantage on the glassing front. I’m going to optimize my shooting kit (prone) and my glassing kit (pan head), and give a little where the two meet.

I just slap my pan head on my ball head. Easy off and on.
