I drew a great rifle tag here in Montana. I've been bowhunting September every year since about 2016.
Decided to take all my vacation in November and bought another rifle.
But I'm excited having the district in my backyard so I'll be able to hunt every weekend during archery. Mainly will just be glassing but I'll have the bow with me for sure.
Goal is 350" even if I've gotta use the rifle. And scouting I've found atleast one. And several others I'd shoot towards the end of the hunt and would be absolutely thrilled with. But I know 380's get killed in here.

I know there's some legit killers in here. Let's see some big 330+ bulls!

Hoping to be able to glass something up and slip in and call.

Knowing my luck and how excited I get if I just went bugle chasing I'd end up with a 280" at 20 yards and stick him Still cool but not 18 years of points cool.

Awesome bull! Good luck OP with your bull- patience pays off!

Thanks!

The idea of passing a bull seems insane though

The last year my OG otc spot was really good I did pass some younger bulls. But opening evening I missed a 340". I should have killed him. But the peckerwood I was with choked when the bull was at 24 yards and broadside. I tried two shots when he was at 40. But didn't Joel Turner the shot and was right under him both times.

Well after opener looks like I'll be just waiting for rifle. Or maybe October it'll slow down.
2-4 rigs at every access point. It's basically OTC for archery.

Pressure should be a lot better in rifle season. And my effective range is a lot further with the 6 UM

It's just the first time in about 8 years I haven't spent a couple weeks chasing elk with the stick.

It's suppose to rain this weekend and I'm tempted to pack in Friday night and pray the rain keeps some of the training wheels out.

I really just want to have a good glassing session. Maybe put a move on a buck or a bull.

I wish Montana would offer some special trad only tags and seasons. Last two weeks of August for a couple tags in some decent units.

On another note don't use cheap fletch tite! All my vanes fell off my new arrows Saturday!!! I had some of my old arrows in the truck though.

Triggered Archery uv activated glue FTW! Used it last year and it's still holding strong. Not sure why the fletch tite failed. Using trad vanes and One stringer wraps like I have for years.
