Brown bear hunt

I crossed a creek lined with bald eagles and bear tracks, as they patiently await the arrival of the Hooligan. While doing so I spotted the giant standing in an open patch of creek roughly 250 yards away when the wind picked up and a front moved in, changing my plans dramatically....

The story of my day, playing cat and mouse and back tracking to the bear tracks following mine... I think we spent most of the day circling eachother! This old bruin is smarter than the one I poked last year thats for sure!

Didn't get it done today, but I'll be back at it next week, and if I don't then, then the following week. If I don't get him then I'll be back in September after my field research is complete to get him while he's fat and happy. One of the definitions of insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results...

I'm happy to admit to be this kind of crazy. I live for it.

Thanks for watching guys, appreciate any feedback.

Cool thread and good luck. Nothing like stalking a bear solo with just a bow to get the blood pumping!

Cool stuff Jon! I hope you get him too and I am a bit jealous you are out hunting already! Good luck!

It's early, but the years already been pretty good to me. Getting the stickbow out for the black bears..

Cheers to the 2014 hunts.

not looking to steal your brownie but what state are you hunting in! you have more snow than we do, and bear sign was zero as of last week here.

Wish ya the best of luck!

Good luck, be safe.

Thanks, I'll be spending this weekend chasing him around again. This time of year really has me swamped for work (I work with Chinook Salmon populations as a field biologist.) Between training for sheep/goats, work, and getting my permits and grants done I haven't been able to get out after him this week yet.. A little birdie I know tells me hes eating hooligan in his same area though...

Keep on Keeping on!

I shot this one last year on a river somewhere in the interior last summer on a spot and stalk @ 13 yards... Thrill of a lifetime.. The bear I'm after here would eat this one for breakfast!
