a little late to party, but this will even get bear funck out. I use it on game bags also

I get the old musty surplus smell out of surplus gear as well as the funk out of coolers by washing them in whatever cleanser you prefer and then letting them air dry in the sun. The sun will kill off the funk. If you live in a place without good reliable sun then you may be out of luck.

I have heard it works, but have never tried it. If it is clean and still stinks, you might try reaching out to a professional cleaner.

Professional cleaners like ServPro use ozone generators to kill odors after fires.

If the bag comes off, throw it into the washer with an enzymatic detergent additive. If it doesn't get some sort of enzymatic cleaner and scrub away, maybe multiple times.
