Getting back to fitness

Have a hunt coming up in October, need to get back into working out/healthy habits after the winter bulk. Been walking with the backpack some but want to ease back into a structured routine. Thinking of starting slow, as follows, any one have any pointers/advice to add? Any nutrition advice/reading materials would also be appreciated. Not necessarily looking for an extreme diet plan, but the nutritional aspect is generally harder for me that the working out, especially when times get busy. Going to follow this plan for 2 weeks, then hopefully increase. Thanks in advance for any advice:

5 days/week: 100 push ups, 100 sit ups, 100 bodyweight squats, 100 burpees, 100 mason twists.
Walk 10 miles/week with weighted pack
No alcohol, no fast food for at least these 2 weeks
Work out 15 minutes minimum every day before work.

Advice will (and should) vary greatly depending on your age, how much weight you want to lose, and what kind of terrain you live in. Need more info

34, would like to lose 20 lbs, flat terrain with access to small hills. Never been a gym guy/weight lifter, have been a runner. Would like to just get into all around decent shape, strength, cardio, nutrition wise that can be sustained

Sounds like you’re off to a good start there to get back in the game, I’d add a core stability routine, mid 30’s is when that starts to fall apart if you’re not specifically targeting it to prevent back pain.

Sounds like a solid plan! Good luck. No alcohol has always been the ticket for me when it comes to rapid weight loss, and making better health/fitness decisions in general. If you can stick to your fitness plan and focus on clean high protein eating you’ll be on the right track in no time. On top of that, nothing prepares you for the backcountry more than putting on a heavy pack and putting boots on a trail.

A little older than you at 50 but I’ve lost 50 in the last 9 months.

For me it is peloton 4 days a week, core 3 days a week, yoga 3 days a week. The yoga is for flexibility and mobility. I use the peloton app for all of it. I travel a lot for work and can do most of it in my hotel room and every hotel gym has a bike if not an actual peloton. I also do 25 pushups every morning just as a wake up.

On weekends if I don’t have work I throw in 5 miles with weighted pack. This will sometimes replace one of the Peloton sessions.

As for diet I have a ton of work dinners and evening events so don’t always get to control my own menu. I’ve gone with a version of intermittent fasting where whatever time I finish dinner I don’t eat for 18 hours from that point.

Eat only home cooked meals with fresh ingredients with nothing from a box or can is my best advice. That's a pretty heavy workout load to start in my opinion, you'll be very sore.... Glad for you to be thinking about getting in better shape.
