So, my fiancé and I are taking the plunge and getting another dog. He will not be my first dog, I have had a golden and currently have an almost 4 year old lab/wirehair mix. She is going Thursday to pick him up. I train my dogs myself and they have been great dogs. I know he is going to be high energy which is not a problem. I upland as well as waterfowl hunt. I would also like to train him on finding antlers. Having not had a pure bred wirehair before, for those of you who have the breed what are some tips and pointers and your experiences? Any and all input is appreciated!

Very affectionate and social, like underfeet social. When my wife hugs me, my gwp comes between us to get in on the action. Very smart, don't be afraid to push him when setting up boundaries when he's a pup. We probably went overboard when socializing him into the family, and now he's attached at the hip. But the only time I heard him growl was at the cat, never at a kid or visitor.
