Gen 6 Glock

I was prepared to be underwhelmed, but it seems like Glock has decided to get with the times on a lot of these updates.

I'm just happy I won't have to dremel undercuts anymore. Hopefully the optics mounting system is better then the MOS.

So it looks like they're not going to an FCU? I will eventually pick up a 17 to replace one I got rid of way back (Gen 3). That'll give me a G319, G421, G520 and G617.

I thought there was all this talk about Glock discontinuing everything and coming out with something brand new.

Edit: or is this the brand new gun and are they not making any previous gens anymore.

They did. An integrated gas pedal and a flat trigger. 🤣

But seriously, what company would discontinue the most popular firearm and make it the not?

I'd love a 26 gen 6 with factory Acro cut. Probably never gonna happen, so I'll settle for a plain old 26.6 whenever they're released.

I have seen reports of Glock advertising optic cut but not explicitly listing MOS cut so I am holding hope that it will be direct cut. Otherwise I hope they offer them in no optic cut so I can get it cut how I want.

Grip texture looks much improved and factory undercut is a nice addition. Not so sure about the new optic mounting system tho.

The new mounting system looks slick. Better than MOS.

Haha I used to hate Glocks. Then I bought the baby 40. That got sold and turned into owning several more.

With my astigmatism I can't see pistol sights. So with a Glock I can swap them to XS sights in a few minutes. The big and standard dots work really well. Or using a Trijicon.

The grip texturing looks like an improvement over the gen 5. I have a handful of Glocks from various generations and I think the gen 5 grip texture was a step backwards. Having no experience with red dots (yet), I'll be interested to hear the reviews on the new optic cutout.

Overall it’s about what I expected I suppose. I agree Glock grip texture has always been an area they struggle with. Hoping this one feels pretty good. At least they made it go higher on the frame.

The forward thumb shelf/texture area is interesting. Could be good to have, but at the same time I find myself not wanting any influence on the gun from thumb pressure these days, so may not affect how I use it.

Single coil recoil spring/guide rod. I wonder if this is solely because they realize the double spring they used before wasn’t necessary or is this a cost cutting thing?

The optics cut is not bad, but not what I expected. I figured they would make a bold effort to lead the industry to the A Cut by doing the gen 6 in A Cut only, continue to sell the Aimpoint COA combos, and then offer adapter plates that could lock in to the A Cut and allow other footprints to be mounted.

I guess my g19 with COA will continue to rise in value for bit, but now I’m wondering if there is a chance that optic and platform will have little/no future support in a couple years.

I think it’s crazy the industry hasn’t standardized a bit more at this point.
