Let me start of by saying Im definitely not an expert but for me some of the things id change about the list

18 Gold tip kinetics Thats alot of arrows. Maybe take a dozen at most unless you plan to hunt other things like Birds? =) (Sorry being smartass) also I cant see you taking 18 shots at a moose so maybe take 8 total broadheads. But again I dont know your plans other then its a horseback moose hunt.

Extra headlamp or light. I always have a backup

I dont know how long your going for but I can do 8 days out on 2 pairs of Darn Tough Socks and not blink about it and no smell. But thats up to you. Also depends on if you think your going to get very wet out there.

Are your trailshoes for around camp I dont see an alternative for around camp.

100% Deet Still gives strong smell aye? Id run a headnet and keep my Sitka 90% Coat on. But thats up to you. Not sure Id use bug spray on a hunt.

Are you staying in a walled tent? Are you processing wood?

Tripod for the DSLR? I dont see a Spotter. That is just a curiousity question

Fire kit? Or is someone else taking care of that for you?

Water Filter in there somewhere? or again is that being handled for you?

Cookset?

Leave the Wallet home and just take exactly what you need. Wallets are generally a pain for me when Im in the field.

All of this could have answers already but with the info you gave its what stood out to me.

Again Im no expert and never have been on a moose hunt. The items above are just basics that I normally have.

Good luck sounds like a fun trip. Cant wait to hear the story

I have found 3M Ultrathon to be the best long release insect repellent and even better is that it has virtually no smell. I would try it out before the trip though to see if you think the smell is okay cause it's not something that can be undone.

As far as headlights go, I make sure and have both ends of the spectrum: low output for daily use and high output for cleaning your kill at night. That way you have a backup, maybe not the most ideal for a task, but at least a backup.

OP it would help knowing when and where you'll be and whether this is an outfitted hunt or not.

Two ways to start a fire (one if everything is wet).
A small handheld flashlight (last resort in case other two fail, and can be used to attract help or get someone's attention)
Compass and map of area

Well then that makes plenty sense.

Are two bows really necessary? Personally, I would bring an extra string and a portable press before I'd lug around a second bow. You could get the spare string all setup and broke in before you go, so the d loop material could stay home as well. I wouldn't take anymore than a dozen arrows if you're just hunting moose. Ditch some of the undies and socks too...no more than 2 of each needed per 7-10 days in the field. There are a lot of things that you COULD do without, but at least you've got horses to bring it all in for you.

Treat all the clothing with permethrin prior to the hunt, ditch the DEET, and if anything like that is needed the guides will have it (won't need it with the permethrin treatment and a headnet, though).

Spare headlamp is a huge suggestion; take it. Spare batteries for the spares, too. If you can get everything down to one battery type (AAA, AA, CR123), do so; two sizes at least.

Multiple ways to make a fire; always a given.

The horses aren't going to like you anyway if you're successful, so can't say as I'd change much if you're comfortable with the gear list.

Bugs will be done before september 26th. In fact there is a high probability that there has been a lick of snow by then.

Take your spare rangefinder batteries and put them in your rangefinder before you leave, then you don't need spares. I would still take some type of fire starter.
If your leaving the country, I assume with the passport you are, take your wallet. I would also take 2 bows before I took an extra string. You crack a limb on something that's a really spends trip wasted. I wouldn't take the extra rest with 2 bows. I always take my leather man and never use it so I would maybe leave that.

Sleeping pad patches? They can also double for your rain gear patch kit.

Full disclosure, I've never been on a hunt like that, so take my opinion for what it's worth.

One thing I would caution you on is putting your back up bow in the duffel bag. Ive had quite a few customers who put bows in scabbards or soft cases and strapped them to mules. When they get to camp the mules have banged against trees or other obstacles and busted the sights or rests and sometimes even the bow itself. So I'd caution you on that aspect of your list.

The way i look at it is if i pack it just like a bow is shipped from the factory and put my sights in my backpack as a carry on it should be fine.. Surely the airline wont be any more rough on it than ups or fed ex..

LOL, sometimes I'm amazed stuff gets anywhere in one piece with UPS/FedEx. Have received a few packages with actual tire tracks across the cardboard.

I haven't watched the behind the scenes with ups or fed ex but the baggage monkeys that Alaska Airlines hired up at deadhorse are just sadistic. I was amazed my tools survived.

Ya my main bow will be in a skb hard case. So hopefully they both make it in one piece. If not the airline or my trip insurance can buy me a new backup bow.

Permethrin is illegal in Canada - wouldn't want you denied entery or turned back at the border. Also I've never needed bug dope on a fall hunt let alone September 26th. Expect frost, EXPeCT frost!!!!!

Unless he told them his clothes were sprayed with it they would never know. He can do that a couple weeks in advance.
