Yessir

Hunting context:

Never found a low bipod to be useful (grass)

Nrl context:

I just find it asinine to buy a triple pull. Harris is working great for me.

My harris Is too tall for low prone. I just shoot off of my pack. If I need to be a bit higher I lay myself and the rifle on top of my pack with the bipod unextended

If I need to shoot kneeling I'll fully extend it, and use tripod rear.

If I need to shoot from higher I just lock into my tripod.

I used my LS Wild cover for the Shoot2hunt school, so roughly 1,000 rounds over 5 days and it held up just fine. Mostly shot in 10 round groups. I don’t know how it would fair on an AR doing a 30 round mag dump.

It does fine.
Some of the stitching on mine came loose unrelated to mag dumping and it was taken care of promptly via replacement. I am certain that I was the cause of the issue and the folks over at LS Wild still took care of it on their own dime. 10/10. Do recommend.

For early morning shoots where it’s normally 100-200 hunting simulated shots or quick 100 yard range work I just use a regular Walmart mat and then a beanie hat or piece of cardboard where my right elbow lands for prone work.

For full day, I’m gonna be on a mat for hours and hours, I’ll break out the heavy duty mat that is by far the best I’ve used. Recommend to me by @Formidilosus

Pricey, but it’s the bees knees as far as shooting mats go.

What rear bag is that? I'm slowing changing over to blaze orange for all of my range gear as I upgrade it.

I haven’t been using a rear bag as much as I used to in the last year or so. Same with a front bipod. That photo was taken on a designated 100 yard zero check and chrono session so I go all nerdy with the gear on those days haha.

That is the LS Wild Ultra Lite in the 2/3 fill. I ended up dumping out another 1/3 of the fill once it arrived as it was still too over filled for my liking. It’s a really good rear bag overall once the fill is set right.

The other rear bag I’ve used quite a bit is the Jellyfish from Shoot2Hunt. The fill is just right on that bag and the shape is just a little better in my opinion being less boxy.

Both are a great option and are honestly the only two rear field bags I’d use. And both come in the best color for field gear that exists, bright orange

On a side note, I have gotten to the age where I just laugh when I see younger hunters/shooters buy things like knives, magazines, headlamps, etc in camo colors. In the back of my mind, I'm always shaking my head and saying sage things like "good luck finding that f*cking camo Havalon knife when you set it down while gutting an elk..." or " This poor b@stard hasn't even been out in the woods often enough to ever have to look for his headlamp when he drops it or his would be blaze orange! Sheesh. Kids these days..."
Yet another reason that I feel older every day.

Burn proof gear is probably my fave cover, but it’s expensive, heavy, and slow to get on/off.

Can chaps is nice but heavy

AG cover is on a 223 so low enough recoil to stay put. Nice thing about the AGs is how easily they can slide off back over the barrel to let the can cool.

Oh, he and I converse from time to time on here. I appreciate his willingness to help this community with info and tips. Especially him putting up with my dumb questions. I've got a couple items in my cart just waiting on me to sell other unneeded gear to free up space and $$$ for gear upgrades. He took great care of me on my suppressor cover recently.

Suppressors get really hot. The cover cuts down the mirage as you get into a string of fire. And makes it possible to touch the suppressor without burning yourself.

My wife bought me a Crosstac Recon mat years ago when we started dating. I actually really enjoy because I can roll it up and pack it into the hills. It is a thinner material and it’s not as wide as some mats but for me it hits a great blend of comfort and mobility.

Another long term Midway pad user here. Works fine but on very hot/sunny days, you're still going to want to employ some of the tricks mentioned in this thread to keep it cool. Also, I just wear long sleeve "sun shirts" if I know i'm going to getting prone or leaning on props/ground to shoot.

They are very thin pieces of Ti or steel that trap hot gasses. Think of how fast a very thin barrel gets hot, now make it much thinner and create a bunch of baffles made to trap hot gasses.. A few shots with a moderate sized cartridge and you start getting mirage. Heavy steel cans are a little slower to heat up.

A few shots with a moderate sized cartridge and you start getting mirage. Heavy steel cans are a little slower to heat up.

Just a few shots? Cindy's suppressor showed up at the place yesterday. I've thought about ordering a TK breast cancer cover because he donates some proceeds to that cause. It's not on the website right now. However, I doubted the "need" for non-competition shooting. I'm also pretty sure they change POI on vs off, and wonder about POI change in a hunting scenario if they get wet from rain or a little ice in them.

Burnt my pants this weekend.

Now this was at a "tactical 2 gun" match with a slinged AR after putting about 50 rounds through it in about a minute.

The thinner metal on the cans heats up way faster then a barrel. Also mine is a 3d printed variety. The way they route gas seems to make them heat up more.

^^I bought one of those mats from Amazon in 2019. I just looked it up to check. It has been used a lot since then by me and my three kids that all shoot prone with me and my dad. I bought a second one for my dad a couple years ago and while it has only been used a few times (getting prone hurts him so he gave my kids the mat and they play with it) it seems to be made as well as the first one, and the first one is still perfectly serviceable and I expect it to last several more years. My daughter used it yesterday; threw it down on the ground so she didn't have to shoot prone in summer grass and bugs.
