Resurrecting an older post.
I finally did my gator hunt. Tremendous fun.
I went with Scott Lagrange of Cajun Outfitters in Henderson, Louisiana.
A solid dude by any measure.
I went fishing pole and treble hook. Incredible the power of a 10’8” brute. A great fight with a bit of a fire drill mixed in.
I shot it with my late dads 1971 Ruger single six special convertible .22 mag.
After our hunt was finished my guide said we weren’t done yet.
The next day my wife and I went with him and he showed us how to set lines. So we set 16 lines for the next days hunters. We went out with them and the guys got 6 gators. 4 real good ones, too. That was a full experience. He made sure my wife got involved with loading it in the boat and also tagging it. I have it all videoed.
Saw paddlefish, lots of gators, damn near taken out by jumping Asian carp, tons of bird species, a great air boat ride through a huge cypress stand, just a great adventure.
I’d recommend Scott any time to anyone.
He’s a soft spoken, honest, God fearing, helluva gator hunting man. He can be hard to get ahold of, but he’s worth it and has plenty of repeat customers.
Toured the Tabsco plant on Avery Island as well.

Also went down to Pierre Part to see the swamp people. The History channel was filming.
All were very friendly and engaging. Very fun afternoon.

Congrats on a great hunt, and catching them by rod and reel IMO is the most fun way to do it! Did you just spot it and snag it or call it in to range to snag?
