Garmin watch, touch screen or no?

I have a Forerunner 965, and have had the Forerunner line for 6ish years because I really value the low profile fit. Not as tailored for outdoors but shares enough features to satisfy my need as a compliment to phone (onx, gohunt, etc).

Current 965 has a touchscreen but I often toggle it on/off. The button navigation is pretty solid given history of the UI being button focused, and feel very comfortable with button only use. However sometimes it is nice swiping through screens and tapping.

If a Garmin model had everything I wanted sans touchscreen, I'd still go for it. If two models were a complete toss up and one had touchscreen, I'd go for it.

MIPS display vs OLED probably the more polarizing discussion!

Can you work the touchscreen with gloves? That would my biggest concern. I just have an Instinct 2, all buttons.

I have the touch screen turned off on my Garmin Fenix 7X. I came from the Garmin Instinct though. Using the buttons is engrained in me. I tried the touch screen and it was nice, but not that big of a navigation improvement.

Personally for the cost I would not. You can get the sapphire lenses which are extremely durable.

The touchscreen version are regular glass which can scratch or crack.

It would really be preference if it’s that important to have a touch screen.

My watch is going on 5 years with the sapphire lense and titanium bezel and still looks new. To me that’s impressive because I’m hard on shit

Well shit I guess I spoke too soon. Didn’t realize they had updated. If that’s the case that’s a no brainer
Not sure when it was implemented. My 7 is the first Garmin watch I’ve had. Their naming convention is a mile long though. It’s the fenix 7 pro sapphire solar
