FWIW I’ve been using a ZOLEO for a few years and most of my hunting buddies have a garmin. I’ve yet to have any issues whatsoever with the ZOLEO, it just works -no connectivity issues or anything at all. My buddies with garmins seem to have issues with connecting or getting messages in and out at least once a season.

I suspend my account when not in use and pay the $4/ month or whatever the cost is then switch to the unlimited texting during elk season for $50/month. There are times when I’ve switched the ZOLEO from send/receive every 12 minutes to always send/receive and can text just like you would with cell service- messages go through/ come in instantly. It’s great.

Other than not being able to text directly from the ZOLEO other than ok/sos I don’t see a reason to go with the garmin.

Ya I'm leaning towards getting the Zoleo. Ive read so many people being confused with Garmin and then I go to their website and can see whether say that. Seems like a rabbit hole of half answers!

A vote for Zoleo, BUT...
with T-Mobile and Starlink satellite texting, you may not need one. I'm in the beta for it and so far its flawless. It autoswitches when I'm out of cell service and I get a text alerting me. Back and forth is very responsive.

For now, I'm not ditching the Zoleo. The SOS feature is worth it for that alone. But, as this progresses and internet and voice over satellite is released, they may become something of the past.
