I bought this refurbished unit from a licensed garmin retailer in July. I used it for 2 trips. One in Tennessee and one in Colorado. It worked great as expected. I don't have another trip planned until next year and I want to upgrade to the inreach mini. This unit works perfectly and has no problems. I have reset it to factory settings. Everything in the picture is included.

Does this function as a GPS with maps? I’m not super familiar with anything relating to GPS.

Or can you load maps onto it And it will show you your position?

Yes it functions like a normal gps. You can download maps to it. You can use the device on its own or you can connect it to your smartphone and control it from there.
