Garmin account issues

Long story short, I set up an Inreach for the first time this morning and paid for a monthly plan / SAR 100 plan. Now I have several unknown charges to my credit card and my email is getting flooded with spam.

Anyone else had this issue with Garmin? I called and of course they "haven't had any issues that they're aware of". I had to cancel my card and am trying to unsubscribe to the emails now.

Oof ... i've subscribed to InReach for many many years and only get the monthly bill.

Be careful about unsubscribing to emails that the recipient is suspect. When you do that, you are essentially vetting your email address as valid and the numbnuts who spammed you will sell your email address as a verified address (on the black market of course). I delete and add the address to a block list - never click unsubscribe.

Thank you for the advice @ODB. I’ll start doing that now. My emails piss me off but I can change it if I have to. The Garmin deal has me a little concerned to give them another card at this point.

Very good advice, here.

I've been a Garmin customer for a good number of years and keep my inReach active year around. I've never experienced any hiccups with the account, billing or spam emails. Sorry you're dealing with this s**t storm.

Thanks guys. I’m going to give them another CC and see what happens. I’ll update if anything weird happens with this one.

I got billed and initially thought it was unauthorized but they were decent to talk to. Turns out I was sending tracking data unintentionally. Shut off the track, will see how the next month goes.

Back to back charges the other one was for 8.75.

Crazy. I have been auto-billed from Garmin with no issue, but I will definitely keep an eye on my card now. Luckily I don't use that card for much - but what a pain in the ass it is...

It may not have anything to due with Garmin but I’ve been at work for 48 and it’s weird that 6 hours after auto billing I get two hack charges.
