School me on theses.

I have been using a combo of an etrex and an iPhone for a while. I am getting a bit more ambitious with my hunting plans and want to do a gps upgrade. iPhone is great but rips through batteries. Etrex tells me where I am but not much else.

I have been eyeballing the 680t for a while. Seems like prices dropped from $550 to $420 recently. I suppose that means they are going to roll out something new. For me it seems like a good time to upgrade.

Thoughts?

I use an E-trex and carry printed topos on waterproof/tear-proof paper 11"x18". Topos have aerial view to show tree cover and topo lines. I use 24k scale, I believe. I also have a couple "master" maps that is perhaps around 50k scale to show larger areas. I get tired of relying on the gps for everything, maps are easy and you can read them well in bright sunlight.

Etrex's screen is small, but the topos are great for large scale reference and more than make up for the small screen.
