Garmin 62S

I can't get my garmin to turn on. It has been on the shelf since mid winter and I was getting gear ready to head out to CO. I swaped out cards to put in my CO card and nothing. Even with no cards nothing. Called garmin and they are going to swap it out. Great c.s. But sux for this trip. The guy said that those units should be turned on at least once a month to keep them working. Any one else have this issue.

Never heard of such a thing about turning it on once a month to work? No like they automatically update like a computer. I have owned many units and never had a problem.

I have not experienced that problem with my 62S, nor heard of the need to turn the unit on monthly. I use it occasionally but not necessarily every month.
Love the unit.

My unit did the same thing one day out of the blue wouldn't turn on. I had the 62stc

Thanks for the offer SHTF. I have an etrex that will work for this trip.

I think I will just use the etrex to mark where I park and go with just map and compass with etrex as a back up. It will be a good training trip for that as I will be mostly on est trails.
