G5 prime 80lb limbs?

Why...what is with the new rage to pull your arms out? I shot 60 pounds and it still goes completely through deer at 50 yards!!

Maybe he isn't shooting deer. Wish I could shoot 80lbs but agree Dave it isn't "needed" with modern bows. I'd give prime a call tomarrow

I realize you don't need to pull 80lbs to be effective at killing an animal. I am however fortunate enough to be a big guy and can pull 75lbs like nothing. I recently switched arrows to Gold tip kinetic kaos, they are so heavy that a lot of speed is lost. I also like to shoot beyond 100 yards on targets so speed definitely helps get there. As winter is getting close its time for hogs, boars are very tough. If you can pull the poundage I can see no disadvantage to shooting 80lbs.

What is the new rage to chastise someone asking a legitimate question? IF you can't say something nice,..............................

Was not chastising...just asked a question....I have just noticed that there are few high profile hunters that shoot 80 pound plus limbs....seems like I see more and more questions from guys asking about these high weight limbs....fact is if a arrow goes through an animal I don't care if you are shooting 40 pounds or 100 pounds...a pass through will kill the same....but there are disadvantage to shooting the higher weight....harder to hold back if you need to hold it for an bad angle or something the game does....more difficult to draw at strange positions....their is a huge difference drawing a bow all summer at the range...another issue when you have been sitting in the cold for hours waiting for that shoot....70 pounds is more than enough for any north american game....I would suggest to take advantage of "LARGE" size a focus on form....just an opinion take it for what it is worth...but I can tell you I have lost count of the number of guys and have watched sky drawing from too much weight and shooting bows with draw lengths too long to get the extra speed....

I have a friend that got some for his Rize, I guess they're using limbs from a different model that come close to 80lbs with the Rize. He said it peaked out at 78 lbs IIRC. I'll ask him today when he gets in to work. His bow had no problem shooting through the mule deer buck he got in UT this past weekend.

I own two Prime Rivals but couldn't tell you about 80lb limbs. I've got a number for a rep out of Atlanta I can PM you if you can't find out from the company.

I'm betting the original poster isn't terribly concerned with what you think his draw weight should be.

He said you need to custom order through Prime, they might or might not do it for you.

I don't shoot 80 anymore, but when I did I drew it back better then some guys who shot 60. You have to be realistic with yourself, no matter what the weight is.

No idea on prime 80 lb limbns but since we are off topic...There is a movement to tie hunting and fitness together. with that stronger archers are pulling heavier bows. I pull 73 lbs easily and am looking at 80 lbs for next year. I would like a flatter shooting bow with a heavy arrow.
