full size spare use/ maintenance

putting 4 new toyo at III 285-70-18 on my 2017 tundra tomorrow. i plan on buying a 5th for full sized spare. Also plan on buying a matching 5th wheel as I do a lot of off roading for hunting and the likely hood of having to use the space is pretty realistic.

When rotating tires every 5-10k miles. Does anyone throw the spare on the main 4 and put one of the main 4 as the spare?

Trying to think of a way to keep evenish tread and extended the life on all 5 tires. I assume the spare tire will be rotted out by the time its time for a new set of 4 tires, so will be a waste if never used

A 5 tire rotation is common. It distributes wear to one more tire, in addition to not leaving you with an old, unworn tire. It's worth making use of the spare IMO.

Hell I'm doing good to rotate tires, swapping the spare into the rotation sure as hell isnt going to happen

That spare will outlast the tires you are running on.

I carry two spares and yes I have used both on one hunt.
But I just rotate the four main tires.
When I replace the mains I save the two best of the old ones as the spares.
That's buy 4 and mount and balance 6.
