I was cooking some water once with a cube of tri. my friend said he could smell it a ways off.
since my nose does not work, which smells worse,
trioxane
diethylene glycol
esbit
alcohol
cannister ?
thanks, bb

I dont think I have ever been able to smell the fuel im cooking with. And have used a hand full of different stoves and gasses. As long as you are getting a good clean burn (not smoking) and the stove is using and burning all or most of the fuel it shouldnt' be very smelly?

I haven't used them all but I'd have to guess Esbit. It has a fishy smell. Never noticed much of a smell from alcohol or a canister. I believe diethylene glycol is odorless. Never used trioxane.

esbit and trioxane each have their own unique STINK. you only think you cant smell it---just get a little closer he he he. it will make week old socks smell like french perfume.

trioxane fumes are just nasty.
