From East Coast to BC.

Did anyone ever hunt goat from the East Coast ??
I'm looking at BC, and the air travel is 14 hrs in 1 day, or 2 days if you get to Vancouver non-stop. It's insanity travel.
That adds on 4 days to the hunt.
Looks like JFK to Vancouver, then north. Or Montreal to Vancouver, then north.
It's a 2-week hunt for sure.

I haven't even looked at Alaska yet.

But to go on a physical hunt after traveling 2 days like a veggie. sheeessss.

I hunted goats from close to the East Coast, but I flew to Washington state, then drove to Montana. If you think your trip would be rough, talk to the people who hunt ibex or Asian sheep…

I’ve done it. Leave yourself a day buffer if you’re going to do it if at all possible. It’s rough. Couple connections and there’s some airports you try to avoid for sure. If you can get to Seattle it’s not bad from there. Do not go through Toronto if possible. They have lost my rifle and my buddies have lost them as well. It’s part of the adventure is what I always say. … ohhh and at all costs try to avoid air Canada

Kip is dead on. I went Delta from Tampa > SLC > Vancouver arrival around 12pm local time. Then next flight on West Jet to regional BC airport leaving at 5pm. Booked separately. This gave 5 hours of time for any possible issues. Where I hear people having issues is booking a flight from home to final destination on one airline that leaves only a 2-3 hr layover in the Canadian connection airport, which is not enough time for a guy with a rifle and ammo and other things that makes liberals heads melt. Either their bag gets delayed at the lower 48 connection, or Canadian customs takes too long, then everything goes downhill from there. Air Canada is not thinking of you when they offer these seemingly efficient itineraries. They are thinking of your average tourist traveler walking around in pajamas and a neck pillow with a black Samsonite roller bag.

If you are going to do it all in one day, leave 4-5 hours between getting to Vancouver and your next flight. On the way back, treat yourself by staying at the Fairmont Hotel in the Vancouver airport, then get on your eastbound flight early the next morning and get home at a reasonable time.

Do Not book an itinerary (especially on Canada Air) getting you to your final destination with only a 2-3 hr layover in Canada
Do Not go through Toronto
Do either 2 days on the way, or leave a 4-5 hour buffer at your first Canadian airport
