I haven't found the listing thru Google, but I heard farts in jars have gotten valuable. What exactly is a fair market price?

They are like wine. If its a particularly special blend and stored correctly, they get more valuable as time goes on.

I'll admit that I get annoyed with the prices some people list for their items. More so on sites like ebay than here. I worry that some people aren't savvy enough to figure out they're getting a bum deal. However, I console myself with the idea that the eventual buyer perceives the value of the item to match the price. Thus, both buyer and seller are "winners" despite the inflated price.

Still sucks keeping my mouth shut though.

What someone buys or sells an item for is nobody's concern whatsoever. No-one is forcing anyone to purchase an item. if an item is sought after, people will buy it. There's a reason Kifaru packs sell used for 10% under retail, because people love the product.

I hear ya, dad. Like if Billy Goat sells fart jars for $35 a pop to Corbland, it's none of my concern even if I believe the fair market value to be $19.99. It's between the buyer and seller and I need to mind my own business.

Maybe I was an SJW in a previous life. Growing up, my dad was constantly telling me to "worry about myself" and "mind my own business". I have bought and sold on the internet for 15 years. Sometimes I need money and I list my items cheap to move them quick. Sometimes I dont need money and will list stuff at a higher price. The number one fallacy you can make is assuming because I have something for sale, I need money.

I have some scopes listed and they are higher than what you will see most go for. I dont need to sell them, they can sit on the shelf for 10 years and maybe I will use them. I put them up because if someone wants to pay me what I want for them, it is worth it to sell.

Many folks who are whining about what someone lists their stuff for on the forum are obviously not thinking about (or are ignoring) state taxes for online sales

Because of my home state tax rate, I save 6% buying from someone on Rokslide compared to the same priced item on gbroker or ebay.

Then there is shipping which is also usually included in a forum sale price.

If you can get it new for the same or better price, then go buy it new and keep your mouth shut.

To me, the result of seeing someone do this that is asking too much is satisfying enough. When I see this, I just think to myself that you could have sold it already if you listed it at a fair price.

I would agree with you if said person is complaining about not selling their item. If the person is completely satisfied with not selling it and waiting for someone to come along and maybe buy it, then that is just fine.

I will give you that but for me, I just ignore the thread. Really the only time I go through the classifieds is if I am in the market for something. I don't really run through there just looking for good deals. If what I am looking for is for sale in there and I think the price is to high, I either PM the person with an offer or move on.

Yep and that’s the right way. Bump it once in a while or say something like, I won’t be bumping but they’re available if they’re still on here.

I tend to agree with this. Tends to clutter the classifieds... what is stopping all of us from posting every single item we own for retail? Hell, everything is for sale for the right price in my book.

we should have an ongoing thread somewhere outside the classifieds where we can laugh at the classified posts, my favorite recently was a guy that posted a pair of boots, won’t sY the brand, but a brand known for leaking quickly…they were 3/4 worn out and he started the price at like 150 bucks. I don’t think you could have walked from your house to the barn on a dewey morning without them getting soaked and falling apart!

Literally nothing.

I have said this in every thread that has been like this one in the last two years. I find it really ironic that way more people complain about the price people are asking than there are people complaining that nobody is willing to pay the price they are asking.
