Freezer alarm

I purchased a pair of the SwitchBots for my vacation home last winter, to monitor house temp, and humidity below it. This summer the freezer went out, I added another one for inside that.
Just checked the battery life, it is 100% on the old ones, and 98% in the freezer. Thumbs up so far!

So satisfied, I just bought the 3 pack for my main home freezers.

Was skeptical of the wireless part working from inside the freezer, but it does. It comes with a hub, plugged in not far away, the hub talks to the sensors and my internet, perfectly.

The app on my phone is easy to use, and to setup alerts, at any setpoint.

Wouldn’t a temperature sensor be better than a door alarm? That way you’re covered if the freezer itself goes bad or the door is left open.
Yes. But the door is most common and temp sensor I tried in the past didn't work well.
I've probably had the door open 2 or three times. Once the kids put a bag ice that prevented it from shutting, one time a jacket or something on top the freezer got in the door.
1 time I killed the breaker while working in the room and didn't turn it back on the same day.

So this one mounts outside the freezer with the probe going inside, wire through the door I suppose?
That is the intention, but I have 2 mounted completely inside and they work fine like that. I also have 2 others mounted as you describe.

I got a Govee temp sensor when our freezer door was left open. Goes on the home WiFi and reports directly to your phone/app very easy to setup and monitor.

Guess I should have had one of these sensors. Just noticed my freezer died while I was away for the holidays.
Lost all my kills, Moose, Elk, Whitetail, salmon, trout and wild hog. :-(

Along with a sensor, any new freezers recommended over the others? I have a new one coming in my future.

The cheapest freezers from any of the big box stores seem to work fine. A lot of the different brands seem to be the same unit anyway. I wouldn't pay more for a Frigidaire over a LingLong.

Our freezer didnt shut all the way and a bunch of Costco meat and what little game i had left from last year was pretty much spoiled.

I was able to save some of it, using a thermometer to save anything in the 30s but there was stuff that was in the 60s and 70s.

Anybody use or recommend a freezer alarm that sends an alert to your phone ?
I don’t trust even having an Alarm I put a heavy object ontop so the door can’t open

Yo link here also we like em.

Also bought the straps that ‘lock’ your freezer shut. An extra step but helps with wife and kids who leave it cracked too often. (Our stand up freezer)
