I’m considering a Freedom Arms Model 97 in .17 HMR for small game and small varmint handgun hunting.
I really like my 10” FA 83 iron sight gun so I’m inclined to get a 10” barrel on the .17 HMR. However, this one is going to be carried squirrel hunting as well as stationary varmint hunting. This revolver will wear a scope so sight radius won’t be an issue.
Is there any significant performance advantage to the 10” barrel over the 7.5” in .17 HMR? Any balance issues shooting either barrel length with a scope? Is a 10” scoped 97 going to be too unwieldy for a squirrel revolver?
