Hello all! I am new to this forum and the the idea of backpack hunting. I was introduced to this forum by a friend who said it was the place to go for all things related. I have decided that I would like a Kifaru pack for my hunting adventures and to use backpacking with the family.

With that said I don't know much about external frame packs and how they should fit or anything so I am slow to order.

Any advice or direction would be great. I had planned on calling Kifaru, but don't want to waste their time until I am completely ready to place an order. Thanks in advance!

Just call, you will make a new friend and find out what you need to know when you are ready to order! They will ask you for some measurements and the pack will come adjusted fairly close, they have videos their website and YouTube on donning it and final fitting. They will also help you pick a stay length. My little bit of advice is get a medium, mini and nalgene belt pockets and nalgene bottle. Nalgene bottle is way better to hydrate from than camelback. Guide Lid is a must too in my opinion too! Good luck, you're going to love it and it will be easier than you think to fill your order

Welcome to Rokslide, I have been here only a short time myself but have learned so much for these fine folks.

I too just recently purchased some gear from Kifaru and could not be more satisfied, not only with the gear but with the interactions with staff at Kifaru.
You may read on here or on the Kifaru forum that when you buy a pack, shelter or other gear from this company that you enter a family or clan and I would not disagree.
Aron, Frank,Heath and Angie at Kifaru have not only tolerated my MANY questions but did so with consummate professionalism and helped me with my order changes even though I must have been a PITA. Very friendly and knowledgeable people that have loads of patience.
I also called a very helpful member here on RS and was treated with the utmost respect and again was helped to feel comfortable asking a myriad of new guy questions and was given some great advise.
You-Tube has been a valuable resource in studying about the different packs and shelters and how they work, I like you need equipment for backpacking with the family as well as backpack hunting and so far have purchased a new hunting duplex frame and two bags, guild lid, Grab-it II, cargo panel and some assorted pockets.
Also just purchased a Bikini frame and bag from members in the classifieds here for my gal.
This morning as I type this I am listening to my two kids just waking up outside in the Sawtooth that we set up for the first time yesterday, they are loving it.

So my advise would be to make the call and get started learning more about the great gear choices that Kifaru offers, continue to reach out here to the helpful members let us answer what questions we can, and then get out and enjoy!

Frank

Thanks guys! I appreciate the advice. I kind of thought that might be the common answer I received. After reading other threads with similar questions that always seems to be the most recommended things. I'm hoping I can make the leap soon!
