So recently a fellow elk hunter asked for any advice on unit ** in Idaho and his thread was closed due to forum rules. This to me is absolutely a garbage rule and response. I thought this was a forum to give others insight and help not smart a$$ responses and a closed thread. The man was not asking for specific spots but rather some insight on the units. As I have 30 years of elk hunting behind me, I have noticed the changes in numbers of hunters directly affecting attitudes in the elk hunting circle. Apparently the closed thread and the response are proof of this. Sad....

As pressure increases and opportunities dwindle, guys are more protective of valuable info they may have gathered over a lifetime of effort and expense.
I read and research as much as anyone and information that shortens the learning curve is freely available if you look. Too much info if you or your "spot" have been negatively affected.
Most on here are good, knowledgeable folks, they are just tired of all the pressure and competition that leads to decreased quality and opportunity for them.
We have a growing population, going after a shrinking resource, in an age of easy info with companies and game departments profiting from application fees.
When you had to pick up a paper map, call some biologists or some chamber of commerce offices, more guys stayed home.

Yes the rule kind of sucks for FNG's like you and your friend. The issue is too often the hunters asking about a unit are all take and no give. Makes for a good rule that I wish was on other forums.
I on the other hand am trying to get my post count up before I ask about hot spots for big deer in SE MT.

You’ve been on here for 8 years and this is your second post?

What insight and help have you provided in that time on here?

30 years of elk hunting experience yet you have chosen not to share any of it… ironic

And it's people like you are the reason I don't normally get on this forum....

Seems like the rules only apply to certain people and not others. Perhaps the fella that was asking for advice on here was hunting in the guys unit that locked his post. Just saying....

This forum is big on not spot burning. This forum is also a public forum where they allow you to view without a membership so it is easily searched by the general public. If it was a locked private forum like some are that requires a paid membership to see the post, maybe they would allow spot sharing but this ain't it.

I will say, 3 post in 9 years makes you the ultimate forum lurker!

Yes Mr Hayes, first he is not a friend just a post I saw. I have participated in several forums and have helped many people and yes some with waypoints and tracks. Areas that they were going into and areas that i have been into with no huge plans to go back. The gentleman was not asking about waypoints on 66 or anyone's hotspots. Ironically I have hunted 66 several times and would give him some tips of the unit. It's not a big deal. I have been in his shoes and a little help is usually greatly appreciated by those asking. I have made real life friends in some of these forums by pms and helping. Anyway, to the good people on here good luck with your hunting and life. To the ornery, selfish pricks, I hope you stub every one of your fcking toes.

Wow you got me Jay....dang you must be a detective! Go stub your toe. It's little pp guys like you why I normally don't come to this forum. It couldn't be the fact that I have been inactive on here for 95% of that time. Now I know why I stayed off from here for so long.

Awe, did your feelers get hurt? Would you like a hurt feelings report and a tissue? Too bad. Stay inactive and spot burn somewhere else.

Jay the thing you don't understand, is my feelings don't get hurt by people of your nature but I also don't hold my tongue very well. Now go get your mask and hide in your bed bug infested trailer.

Oh no, personal insults from a forum troll. The ultimate burn. This post is trash. Enjoy your lonly life with no information on specific units. Go ice fishing and get off the internet.

You are not very smart are you? You started on me with the 'personal attacks' such as the 'you are the ultimate forum lurker' but now your feelings are actually hurt. Sorry you probably don't even own a trailer, I imagine you are still living in mommy's basement.

I'm impressed! I've gotten you to engage in more forum posts in an hour than anything posted on here in 9 years. Maybe you'll post something constructive one day!
