Form 1 suppressors

Anyone else here into form 1 suppressors at all? Have a handful of different things i have made, but be curious to see some others that people have built

Also interested in this. Have a couple 3D printed 22 cans and they are very easy to print and very quiet. Interested to see what people are doing for centerfire stuff.

I've done 3, about 5 years ago when the form1 suppressor game was still the wild west. I mainly did it to see what goes into suppressors and cut approval times. One is a 25cal, the other two are 30cal. One is "modular" I guess. I tried to make them light as possible so Ti cups and sleeves, the modular one uses a Ti blast baffle then the upper cups are alum (this is not a hard use can, more a couple shots over time hunting can). I've used them on bolt guns in 223, 6.5CM, 25-06, and a couple ARs. I have no idea how they really compare to other form 4s as I hadn't cared enough to shoot them side x side. They work well enough I've had no complaints.

In the end, I don't think I really saved anything other than time of approvals, and maybe a little cash. But they were all still 300-400 in "parts".

Maybe now with 3D printing it may be worth it. But once the ATF started scrutinizing and adjusting what needs to accompany with the info, it's just as quick to get a form 4.

I’ve done three as well. (1) 22lr, (1) 5.56 and (1) 7.62. The 2 centerfire cans are Ti sleeves, Ti blast baffles and then a progressive mix of stainless then aluminum. They are both clipped baffle cans. They’re not super lite but they aren’t heavy either. I kick the crap out of them and they are good to go. The 22rimfire is a 5.5” all aluminum K baffle can that is actually bad ass. The 2 centerfires are good, until you compare them to the newest stuff coming out (OG, airlock, PTR, Huworx, etc).

I did all of mine on a mini lathe and had to teach myself machinist skills. It was great to learn and I’m happy that I did it, but I doubt I’d do it again. Not with such amazing performers out there now.

The picture is of the form 1 can on a 22lr 1911 that I put together as well and is by far one of the most fun shooting platforms I have.

Did you go the “solvent trap parts” route then?

Kinda yes, kinda no. Those solvent trap kits are pretty much crap on anything but 22lr, or for longevity. These were separate cups by a couple companies that are no longer in business. Cups shaped different ways for pistol, subs, supers, hardened steel, Ti, or Alum.
Same with the Ti tubing for the body.

While I guess you could say mine were a type of trap, all the components were sourced separately, spacers cut for added length to the blast chamber and different spacing between cups, mounts and end caps sourced separately. Now the ATF wants you to send plans, or show a material list, or whatever crap they as asking for now.

The company I got parts from for one of the suppressors is now just selling completed cans (as opposed to unfinished pieces), JK armament.

You may still be able to find unfinished parts out there, but it's tough. There was a FB page called Form 1 Builders support that had a lot of data, and info. It's still there. Might be worth a check.

The form 1 builders support page has alot of good info. You can get some mixed info depending on who you talk to one there but overall it is good stuff. I have posted a few of my builds on there
