For this time of year what are some of your alls favorite sounds to use on the Foxpro calls?
Been debating on ordering some more sounds for mine and thinking of getting some of the MFK sounds.
From what a lot of what I read and hear is to use breeding sounds this time of year.

We like the MFK sounds. Not happy with the Foxpro. Needs sent in for a blown speaker for the second time.

is it worth it to buy their “edition” for an extra $75 or so over regular price or just pick up some of their sounds after purchasing?

We are looking to get an x24.

All depends on how many sounds you want. I’d definitely recommend buying the MFK edition if you want a lot of them.

If it’s just a handful buy wherever then add them after the fact.

Makes sense, I guess I was wondering if they are all good or they were just beefing up the package to make 100.

It seems like you would quickly outspend yourself on that initial investment at $8 a pop but if you end up only using a handful of them the value would be overinflated.

Definitely agree. I think we have more money in MFK calls on our X24 than we do in the X24 itself.

I'm assuming you are talking coyotes. Half came into prey distress and half came into a fight the other day. I don't switch it up much throughout the year. Sometimes if they are rolling into prey distress most stands I might play an extra distress sound on a stand and less fight sounds. Or vice versa. And just depending on the stand and the action sound categories might change a little.

I have a lot of MFK sounds. I haven't had better luck with them then I have with other brands of custom sounds. I do like MFK Fight Challenge.

I have tried breeding sounds when it's slow and that hasn't worked either. When it's slow it's slow for me. Not saying they don't work. Nothing was working.

I would search out the popular sounds from whoever you are interested in getting sounds from and start there.

I have/use quite a few mfk sounds. Tony tebbe is another good option. Definitely expensive but is worth it if you have a lot of pressure in your area.

The only thing I change after 1st of the year is IF I play prey distress or not. Generally I am using vocals to start my stand followed by prey distress followed by pup distress. If there are cats around I skip the vocals, but have called cats in on stands that used vocals.

Most my 2025 stands have been - lone/lonely howls - coyotes answer - I answer with interrogation or invitation howls - if I can’t see them coming in yet I play whines. Typical stand length has only been 5-10 minutes before they show up. If no one answers my vocals I will do my standard stand or leave if I don’t think nothing is close enough to respond.

Do you notice coyotes quit howling when it gets cold out? It seems like once it starts getting negative I quit hearing them. It was -4 to -14 and I heard zero responses last time out.

Great info, Keep it coming.
Im still new to the Predator hunting and it seems like it and trapping are a dying art around here at home. I just want to do it for something to do in the winter time months and get rid of some predators so our Deer and Turkey population isnt hit hard

Definitely agree with all of sound suggestions here. Lines up with our experience/playlist here in the midwest.

I don’t go out at night once it gets into the low teens single digits anymore. I wouldn’t say they completely quit howling here, but they won’t travel/leave the cover they are in. I’m usually pretty tight to them, so responses may just be kind of a reaction vs a response.

Where you are at do they still come to the call and are tight lipped or shut down also?

Just tight lipped. Still coming in.

At least you have that! I don’t recall killing one at night much below 10. Im a slow learner I think it took me over 3 years of hunting super cold nights to realize it wasn’t productive here. A lot of my best daytime hunts have been in below zero windchills though!

That’s interesting. Coldest I’ve hunted them was -33 ambient and they still came in.

I would assume it’s a location thing then. I have never traveled and hunted in those temps, always been around the house. -33 would be an all time record low for here and sounds completely miserable!

I use several of the MFK sounds. Haven’t had the chance to get out for a while now though.
