The primos sonic dome diaphragms were the easiest for me to learn with.
But I love the primos hyper lip single, Jason phelps open reed call, the Barry thunder bugle, and the primos bugle.
You can take scissors and trim the white tape part of the primos calls and others to make them smaller so they don't gag you as much.
For me it was about use. At first I could call just a little then I'd gag. Then after a while I could call longer and longer.
You might try turkey calls first. They were easier for me to learn with. The shorter staccato type sounds are easier to learn and helped me get the feel of the diaphragms.
