For everyone who is considering moving to WY…

I don't think most people have a clue, and that video is shot in town Chugwater with some buildings and bluffs slowing the wind down some too.

HA! Been there, done that, and have no desire whatsoever to live on the high plains again.

Why live in that wind unless it is something akin to a big family ranch handed down generation to generation.

And yes, though much is, not all of WY is that windy.

You can add a lot of places in MT to this thread. Been there done that. Tents exploding and tore to pieces, then sleeping in the trucks the rest of the trip. Yee-Ha.

I was out in eastern Wy in early Oct for a pronghorn hunt. Visited with an old friend that moved to Chugwater from the St Louis area a dozen or so years ago. They were having hurricane force winds today. It was quite pleasant the day we visited in the afternoon of the day I tagged out.

I think the wind got to 80 mph here in Livingston MT yesterday. I was told it hit 97 in Big Timber. I think of it as population control 😁

That wind in the video probably isn't over 40 mph max. The guy is standing up easily.
I'm east of Big Timber @ 20 miles and we probably only had 60 max. but town got
it good.

Gotta love chinooks.

They should show the wind blowing the sheets, to uncover WYOGA in bed with G&F commission. Or, how the wind is making so much noise, no one can hear how ignorant it is to allow NR hikers to enjoy the wilderness, without a guide, but not a NR hunter.

I stopped in Livingston a few years ago to get something to eat. The traffic had come to a crawl on I90 as the trucks were getting brutalized. I got out of my truck and the wind was blowing particles off the parking lot into my face. I had to take my glasses off and cover my face until I got inside. It can be nuts there.

Fly fishing the river can be extra special here.

Wind is brutal there....just came back from Cheyenne and going up this AM on I-25 there were 4 semi truck blown over and by this afternoon it doubled. 70+ mph winds is not uncommon.

We had 101 mph on the Front. Was driving back from Billings last night and there was a tipped over camper in the middle of the interstate @HWY 89 exit.

The next morning when I was leaving, the wind was bad. I was loading some of my stuff into the pickup and the wind blew the door shot on me and damned near broke both my legs.

What I have found fascinating is how it starts and stops. Like an on/off switch. Dead calm, but can hear it coming, and minute later trees are bending sideways. When it’s done, moves out just as quickly.
