OSU is certainly hot right now, but they are beatable. Whether UT is willing to do what it takes is another story.
Ohio St wins with Will Howard, not because of Will Howard. He has shown himself fully capable of making mistakes at the worst possible time.

UT has the athletes to match up with OSU but can they play smart for 60 minutes?

If Sark will swallow his pride and use both Ewers and Manning then Texas might have a chance. Otherwise Ewers will get tired and start cracking under pressure. Wouldn't hurt if UT had a kicker either.

For me, the difference maker between these 2 teams was Bryce Lance. Bobcats may have good receivers, but they don't have Bryce Lance. His play, especially in the last 2 games has been elite. With these last 2 showcase games, unfortunately I don't expect him to be with Bison next season. FBS/NIL will be too strong and pull him away. But I am thankful to have watched him play here in 2024-2025.

Just saw Bryce Lance is coming back. He must have confidence in the next QB to get him the ball and go the Christian Watson route. I’d guess he’s seen enough of his brother’s $35M that the small amount they offer mid-tier receivers in the Power 4 couldn’t sway him.

^ Evidently (rumor has it) that the Bison backup quarterback just might be better than even Cam Miller, if so that doesn't bode well for the rest of the FCS, but might explain part of his decision to stick around.

That ND line that dominated Georgia got bullied vs Penn St. They were so outplayed that it still seems Penn St won. Penn never completed a pass to anyone except for their polar bear-sized tight ends and RB check downs. Zero receptions by a WR is a crazy state for this level. James Franklin’s job should be the most in danger. 1-18 vs top 5 teams and that one win was against a non power-4 school last week. If he can’t beat Ohio State or Oregon next year, he should be sent packing; unless their program’s goal is just being a 5-10 team every year.

My gut says Ohio State big tonight. It’s hard to say as Texas hasn’t played any team that plays the same style as Ohio State. So maybe they can shut em down, we just haven’t seen it yet. I think half of Columbus would still like to see Ryan Day be sent packing even if they win the next two games by 30.
Franklin’s one win against a top 5 team was against OSU in regular season a few years ago IIRC. They didn’t play a top 5 ranked team in this playoffs. I’m fine with him staying there. Can’t win the big one, good for us!

Cole Peyton has been pretty well recognized as the best athlete on the team by NFL scouts for a few years now. Last year during the ESPN broadcast during the Montana game they said a few times he was the top player NFL scouts at the game were watching.

He’s more of a Mellot style QB. But 6’3” and 235lbs. Kid had 600+ rushing yards and 13 rushing TDs as the backup in 2023. It may be a Carson Wentz type situation; where he only got to start for one year because he sat behind a winning QB. Hopefully Peyton gets granted a medical redshirt after missing the rest of 2024 after the first SDSU game. He averaged 8 yards per carry prior to that in 2024.
